I've had my laptop for over 6 years. It's a Dell Inspiron 6000.
Mside from a few (major) bumps in the road, my computer has done what I've needed it to do. It has a good amount of hard-drive space to hold all my music and art files. I can put music onto my iPod and make art. That's generally all I need a computer to do for me (I use internet on a small netbook).
However, this past year has been a real struggle. Some screws fell out of the hinge and the chassis is popping open on the left side of the monitor-half. It's currently holding together with duct-tape. Crude, yet effective.
It takes my computer upwards of ten minutes to fully boot up when I want to use it, and it takes Photoshop about 5 minutes to open. All-in-all, 5 or 10 minutes out of my life isn't a whole lot, but in terms of booting speed, it's kind of miserable.
If I have more than one program open at once (SAI + Photoshop, SAI + iTunes, Photoshop + iTunes, MSN + SAI, etc.) the computer tends to freeze or respond between long pauses of inactivity.

I have defragged several times, compacted my files, deleted every unnecessary program and every game. It constantly reminds me that I have no virtual memory.

Sometimes when my computer is left sitting for a while without my input, it restarts without warning and I lose work if I haven't saved (I'm now saving every time I get up for breaks).


TL;DR, I really need a new computer.
My poor baby is on its last leg.
The chassis is breaking, the trackpad is losing sensitivity, it doesn't respond when I plug things into the USB ports, it shuts down randomly, it takes forever to start up.

College is coming up and if I get accepted to Ringling, I get a Macbook.
I really hope my poor gimpy laptop can hold out for one more year...
